You eventually learned the reason that Fusoir destroyed Grasstemple Village.
Fusoir wanted an apprentice who could combine the skills of Skysong and Jadeon; blending the two could reveal any philosophical truths uniting the two. After teaching Shaw Danon the basics of Skysong skills, he killed all the villagers, convinced that if Shaw Danon asked to be taught by Jadeon, they would never turn away a survivor of such a tragedy. He was right.
Shaw Danon's Soul Scepter esper was made from the Sinister Orb, which was left to him by Fusoir.
